Borough Trash Collection Information

Belle Vernon Borough Council approved a three year contract with Big’s Sanitiation.  The contract takes effect July 1, 2023.

Under the terms on their contract, Big’s is joining most local trash collection service providers in no longer billing residents directly.

Unfortunately, in addition to being required to bill residents,  the monthly rate has more than doubled under the contract due to fuel costs and other increased charges incurred by Big’s.  Again, this rate is set by the hauler, not the borough.

The borough is not making a profit on any trash collection fees. While a nominal charge for our costs to mail bills and process them is included, residents are paying what the borough is being charged for monthly trash hauling, which is roughly $25 per month.

With the new contract, trash bills will be sent by the Borough of Belle Vernon.

Rates Effective July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026
Annual – $360.00

Annual pay with $10 discount – $350.00
You may pay the entire amount by July 31, 2025 to receive a $10 discount. If you choose this option, you must pay, in full, by July 31, 2025.

Biannual Payments
Due: July 31, 2025 – $180
Due: January 31, 2026 – $180

Late Payment Fees

Payment not paid made by the due date will be considered delinquent.

Checks may be made payable to The Borough of Belle Vernon.

You may mail your payment or bring it to the borough offices during regular business hours.

Bulk Collection

One bulk item is permitted to be placed curbside each week.  Examples include: furniture, washers and dryers, dishwashers, hot water tanks, mattress/boxsprings.

Recycling

The Borough of Belle Vernon is not mandated to recycle.
